Player Care

INJURIES
AFL  is a contact sport that occasionally may result in injuries from tackling, kicking, running, hand-balling, marking and physical competition for the ball.
Langwarrin FNC is committed the wellbeing of all its players, officials and spectators.  Each team at LFNC have accredited first aid trainers that will provide care to our players should an injury occur during matches or at training.
All LFNC players, umpires, officials and volunteers are covered by club insurance if the injury is sustained while participating in a sanctioned club activity/event.  If you have incurred costs (Non-Medicare medical costs) for  medical treatment or rehabilitation, then you can lodge a claim for reimbursement of out of pocket expenses.

To submit an insurance claim:
  1. Players will need to complete the Marsh personal injury claim form.    Download & Print form  | Complete Online
  2. Have sections completed  & signed by medical staff who are involved in your treatment, and employer (if required)
  3.  Bring completed forms to the club to have signed by club president or secretary.  If you have any queries with completing the form, they will also be able to assist
  4. Lodge forms and any receipts to Marsh insurance ( email or postal details are listed on the form)
Before completing this form, it is recommended that you  read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) on the marsh website www.marsh.com/au/financial-services-guide.html.

CONCUSSION GUIDELINES
Langwarrin FNC  follow the AFL's  return to play protocols in the concussion guidelines for  community football. From 2024 there will be a  mandatory minimum 21-day return to play protocol.
Under the new community football guidelines, the earliest that a player suffering a concussion can return to play is on the 21st day post the concussion incident provided they get medical clearance. The new community football guidelines are in-step with the recent Australian Institute of Sport’s Concussion and Brain Health Position Statement regarding return to play protocols post-concussion. The full details of the new community football guidelines  can be found here.   (2024 AFL CONCUSSION PROTOCOLS)
